Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to make it to the closing table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has absolutely no reason to play at the game with the min buy in.

Buying in for the min takes most of the ability out of big stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The best players in the world may be players you have won’t have heard of before. Gus can be found competing in online poker on Full Tilt. He generally plays in high stakes omaha/8 and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he use his talents in cash rounds?
