NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching experience and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an eternal love for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
