Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success.
