No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

He started competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes blunders every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
