No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
