Net High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve last poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the strongest bettors in the world. While participating in web poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus usually buys in for the minimum of $16, 000 and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has absolutely no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total dollar value. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be seen competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He generally competes in high stakes omaha hold’em and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
