No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making blunders in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
