No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by many of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
