NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. He would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal love for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
