Focus on Annie Duke
Annie Duke might not have came away with her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until two thousand and four but Annie is one of the most feared poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker bracelet came with a win at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While competitors from the "younger generation" of poker go berserk after a big success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her 4 children. She was born in NH and was raised into a family of card players. If you do not believe that, check out her sibling, Howard Lederer, when he plays, who taught Annie the correct way to compete in poker.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has earned her share of difficult tables, including eliminating Howard along the way on several occasions.
Earning over three million dollars in tournament action, Annie became a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wished to sharpen his abilities to become a big player in poker.
You may glimpse Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on the tv and you might just even compete with her in an online poker match, but don’t expect an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you will not beat her. However, it would be cool to say you sat at the same table as "The Duke".
